The past couple of weeks (since we got back from vacation), we have been very strict on what we eat. Though we do tend to eat well, sometimes we are more gourmand than gourmet and give in to the sweet tooth. So we have cut out sugar, alcohol and anything remotely processed. Mostly we feel much healthier, but this weekend we were seized by an uncontrollable urge for pizza. Rather than concede and order a delivery, however, we tried to stick to our guns by making our own pizza instead. It was also another way to continue using up that marrow!
We followed the same basic procedure as outlined here, but used marrow, chili pepper, olives, and fresh tomatoes as our toppings, along with mozzarella and some shredded emmental, and fresh oregano. We also ended up with a bit too much dough when we rolled it out, so we made a little focaccia bread out of the excess, cooking it in a round cake tin with melted garlic&herb butter poured over it and serving it with some fresh Black Russian tomatoes (fantastic variety, I highly recommend it!) from the garden while we waited for the pizza to cook.
